if fruit seller had some apples he sells 40% of them and still has 420 apples find the number of Apples he had origin

Let the total number of apples be y


Given 40% are sold and 420 apples are left


That is 60% of apples = 420



Hence (60/100) × y = 420



∴. y = 420 × (100/60) = 700


Thus there are a total of 700 apples with the fruit seller.
