If gamets were formed by mitosis, how would the hereditary material increase in subsequent generations????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ​

Explanation:

if gametes were formed by Mitosis there would be no increase in chromosome in subsequent generations because in mitosis reductional division occurs there are Total 46 chromosomes in the child where as child gets 23 chromosomes from his mother and half number of chromosomes from father.so there would not any increase in hereditary material in Mitosis
