First of all, Constitutions should be shorter, concise and in very simple language. A good constitution would just provide for very strong civil liberties (freedom of exchange, conscience, association, speech, keeping arms, movement, property), rule of law principles, limited government and separation of powers.
Indian Constitution gets several things wrong:
- it is too long. Its is difficult to find an Indian citizen who has read it fully unless he is a lawyer, judge or paid to read it.
- it is written in legalese - difficult to understand.
- Civil Liberties are too weak, particularly right to property and trade are very weak rights.
I think, it will need to be rewritten.
