Let the number be x

so, one third of the number will be x/3

question states that when one third of a number is added to itself , it gives 10 which can be written as :

(x/3)+(x/1)=10

by taking the LCM on the left hand side it becomes-

(x+3x)/3=10

4x=3*10 (changing the side from left to right will also change its sign from division to multiplication)

4x=30

Answer is x=7.5
