if HCF of 657 and 963 is 657*+963y. find the value of x and y

to find the HCF of 657 and 963, we will use Euclid's division Lemma,

963 = 657*1+306

since the remainder is not equal to zero, we will again apply Euclid's division Lemma

657 = 306*2+ 45

306 = 45*6 + 36

45 = 36*1 +9

36 = 9*4 + 0

now we get remainder as 0 , thus the HCF of 963 and 657 is 9.

9 = 657 x + 963 x -15

1620 x = 9+15 = 24

x = 24 / 1620 = 2/135
