Given : A farmer has isosceles right triangular field to sow different types of crops. He decided to sow wheat ,Barley maize ,and rice in different portions of the field . He divided his field into three small triangles and a square. He sows big portion of square with rice and three triangles with wheat , Barley and maize. Also , the area of square portion is 100 m².

To Find :  THE AREA OF THE FIELD

IF HE SOWS RICE AT THE RATE OF RS. 50 PER SQUARE METER, FIND THE TOTAL COST OF SOWING SQUARE PORTION OF THE FIELD.

AREA OF THE WHOLE TRIANGULAR FIELD?

FARMER WANTS TO PUT FLAGS AT THE EQUAL INTERVALS OF 2 M AROUND HIS SQUARE FIELD. HOW MANY FLAGS WILL BE NEEDED

Solution:

ABC is isosceles right angled triangle

AB = AC

=> ∠B = ∠C = 45°

PQRS is square and area = 100 m²

=> PQ = QR = RS = PS = 10  m

QR = RC  = 10 m    and PS = BS = 10 m

Area of triangle BSP and CRQ  = (1/2) * 10 * 10  = 50 m²

PQ = 10 m => AP = AO = 10/√2  = 5√2  m

Area of  ΔPQQ  = (1/2) * 5√2 * 5√2 = 25 m²

Area of Square field = 100 m²  given

Total Area of field = 50 + 50 + 25 + 100  = 225 m²

Rate of Rs 50 per sq m for sowing rice

Cost of Sowing Rice  = 50 * 100  = Rs 5000

Perimeter of Square  = 4 * 10 m

Number of Flags needed = 40/2 = 20   Flags
