if height and radius of the cone are H and R respectively and it is given that height of the cone is same as the diameter of the base find the slant height

H represent height & R represent radius.

:. Diameter = 2R

Given :---. H = 2R

:. R = H/2

For slant height

l² = r² + h²
:. l = √ r²+h²

:. l = √ (H/2)² + H²

:. l = √ H² /4 + H²

:. l. = √ 5 H²/4

:. l = √5 H / 2


Therefore slant height is √ 5 H /2 .

Given -- Height of cone = H
Radius of cone = R
H = 2R ....( since d=2R )

To find - Slant height

Solution--- l²= r²+ h²
:. l= √ r²+ h²
.: l= √ R² + 4R² ......... ( given that h = 2R)
.: l = √ 5R²
.: l = √5 R

Therefore slant height is √5 R .
