Given:

The height of a cylinder is equal to radius of its base.

To Find:

The curved surface area of the cylinder.

Solution:

as given,

h = r

⇒ the curved surface area of the cylinder = 2πrh

   the curved surface area of the cylinder = 2πr²  { h = r }

                                      or

⇒ the curved surface area of the cylinder = 2πrh

   the curved surface area of the cylinder = 2πh²   { h = r }

Hence, the curved surface area of the cylinder is 2πr² or 2πh².
