Let angle of dip = ∆ We know that , tan ∆ = V/H ...(i) where , V and H are the vertical and horizontal components . According to the question , V =H ...(ii) Now , From (i) , tan ∆ = V/H or , tan ∆= V/V from (ii) or , tan ∆ = 1 or , ∆ = 45 degrees Therefore required angle of dip is 45 degree. Answer c

Given that,

The horizontal and vertical components of earths magnetic field are equal.

To find,

Angle of dip.

Solution,

The ratio of the vertical component of Earth's magnetic field is to the ratio of horizontal component of Earth's magnetic field is called angle of dip. Here, both horizontal and vertical components of earths magnetic field are equal. So,

\tan\delta =\dfrac{B_v}{B_H}\\\\\tan\delta =\dfrac{B_v}{B_v}\\\\\tan\delta =1\\\\\delta =45^{\circ}

So, the angle of dip is 45 degrees. Hence, the correct option is (b).
