When hydrogen gas is heated to a very high temperature it's molecule exhibit both translation motion and rotational motion.

Hydrogen gas has the molecular formula as H₂

Hence it is a diatomic gas.

For diatomic gas the total degree of freedom is 5. Out of the 5, 3 is for translation motion while 2 is for rotational motion.

Hence the fraction of energy corresponds to rotational motion will be 2/5
