if i add irrational number to rational number the answer would be - rational or irrational ?​

We can prove it by taking an example

Let we have root2 is rational and 2is rational

So,rational+irrational=2+root2

To prove that 2+root2 is irrational

Use contradiction method

Let if possible consider it a rational no. So,

2+root2=p/q

Where p and q are integers and qis not equal to zero)

Root 2 = (p/q)-2

Root2 =(p-2q)/q

On Left hand side there is an irrational no. Where on right hand side there is a form of rational no.

And irrational no. Ant be equal to rational no.

This is contradiction

Hence our supposition is wrong

2+root2 ia an irrational no.
