If I have to predict again a square made by select any 4 numbers, how will you approach to solve if the sum of all the numbers is given to you?

Given :   a square made by select any 4 numbers on a calendar

To Find :  approach to solve find the numbers if  the sum of all the numbers is given to you

Solution:

in a calendar in any square  4 numbers are

a        a + 1

a+ 7   a + 8

Sum of Square = a + a + 1  + a + 7  + a + 8

= 4a  + 16

= 4(a + 4)  

If Sum of Square is given Then Divide the sum by 4  and  subtract 4

to get top left number

S/4  - 4    = b

then rest numbers   are  

b         b +1

b + 7   b + 8

for example sum = 20

=>20/4 - 4  = 1

1        2

8       9

Sum = 24

=> S/4 - 4  = 2

2        3

9        10

General rule :

S/4  - 4     S/4  - 3

S/4 + 3     S/4  + 4

S is sum of all four numbers
