The intensity of the sun i is indirectly proportional to the distance x from the surface. If the distance is doubled to 2x it means the intensity of the sun will be twice less than the intensity at the distance x. Therefore the sun is 50% of I   this is because the radiation from the sun hits the surface first before being reflected to the object at a distance 2x.
