If I left wheate dough in the open ,after few days, it starts giving a foui smell and become unfit for use . Give reason

It was unfit tor use and have a smell because the dough has moisture and warmth inside it and that is the best place to grow microbes. So the dough may have fungi growing on it that gives off awkward smell. And it is unfit for use.
