The area of the rectangular floor which is lying outside the circle is  261.5 m² .

Step-by-step explanation:

The dimension of the rectangular floor of a room:

Length, l = 20 m

Breadth, b = 15 m

Area of the rectangular floor = l * b = 20 * 15 = 300 m²

It is given that one of the end of a rope of length 3.5 m  is fixed at the centre of the room and a circle is made with the help of that rope,

So, the radius of the circle, r = 3.5 m

The area of the circular portion = πr² = \frac{22}{7} * 3.5^2 = 38.5 m²

Thus,

The area of the rectangular floor which is lying outside the circle is given by,

= [Area of the rectangular floor] - [area of the circular portion]

= 300 - 38.5

= 261.5 m²
