If I travel from Mumbai to Pune (150 Km) in 21⁄2 hrs via the Express Highway [2] and return to Mumbai via the old High way (180 km) in 31⁄2 hrs, calculate the average velocity during the entire journey.

Well if you want average speed, then

Total distance = 150 + 180 = 330 km

Total time = 2 and a 1/2 + 1 and 1/2 hrs

= 4 hrs.

Avg. speed = total distance / total time

= 330 / 4

= 82.5 km/h
