let the distance be x
x/4 -10/60=x/5+5/60
x/4-x/5=1/6+1/12
×/20=3/12
x=20/4=5 km

Answer:

5 km

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the original time

if i walk at 4km/hr,i miss the bus by 10 minutes.

So, Speed = 4 km/hr

Time = x+\frac{10}{60}

Distance = Speed * Time

Distance =  4(x+\frac{10}{60})

if i walk at 5 km/hr,i reach 5 minutes before the arrival of the bus.

So, Speed = 5 km/hr

Time = x-\frac{5}{60}

Distance = Speed * Time

Distance =  5(x-\frac{5}{60})

So, 4(x+\frac{10}{60})=5(x-\frac{5}{60})

x=\frac{13}{12}

Distance =  4(x+\frac{10}{60})

Distance =  4(\frac{13}{12}+\frac{10}{60})

Distance =  5 km

Hence I should walk 5 km
