If in a plant with genotype AaBbCc, genes A and B are completely linked then the Percentage of pollen grains with genotype will be 0%.

  • A and B genes are completely linked, therefore, they will be transferred to the next generation together.
  • Linkage means no crossing over takes place between those 2 linked genes.
  • Linkage also means that the 2 linked genes are situated on the same Chromosome and have the least recombination frequency i.e the distance between the 2 genes or the ability to cross over.
  • Therefore a genotype aBC where only 1 of the linked genes is present - occur due to crossing over between the 2 linked genes is not possible.
