LET THE numerator be x

so denominator =x+8

fraction=x/x+8........................(1)

according to question

numerator=x+17

denominator=(x+8)-1=x-7

the result is 3/2 of above fraction

x+17/x-7=3/2(x/x+8)

x+17/x-7=3x/2x+16

cross multiplying

(x+17)(2x+16)=(3x)(x-7)

multiply according to distributive law

i.e  (a+b)(c+d)=ac +da+bc+bd

apply middle term splitting to get answer
