Answer :

In a vernier calliper n VSD coincides with (n-1) MSD.

We have to find least count of vernier calliper.

As given, n VSD = (n-1) MSD

VSD = Vernier scale divison

MSD = Main scale divison

፨ 1 VSD = (n-1)/n MSD

We know that,

  • Least count = 1MSD - 1VSD

⇒ LC = 1 - [(n-1)/n] MSD

⇒ LC = [n-n-1]/n MSD

⇒ LC = 1/n MSD

[፨ 1MSD = 1mm]

LC = 1/n mm
