Answer: x = 3 and y = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

In a parallelogram, opposite sides are equal.

Here the parallelogram is ABCD. So the opposite sides are AB & CD and BC & AD

ie, AB = CD

ie, x + 9 = 4x

ie, 9 = 4x - x

ie, 9 = 3x

ie, x = 9/3 = 3

∴ x = 3

Also, BC = AD

ie, 2y - 4 = y

ie, 2y - y = 4

∴y = 4
