The sun doesn't actually burn in a manner similar to fire. The sun is mostly comprised of hydrogen and helium which is under immense pressure created by gravitational force in the sun's core. The pressure is so extreme that it raises the temperature of these gases and causes nuclear fusion. This makes the sun hot and bright.
