if in the determination of melting point of ice, the ice is contaminated woth sodium chloride,how is the melting point affected?Explain the significance of using salt in cold countries to melt ice after a snowfall.

In determining the melting point of ice, ice is sometimes contaminated with impurities such as NaCl. Then, the melting point of the water decreases. Although salt can not melt ice into water, NaCl is the best saline (table salt) in this case. Therefore, cold areas become warmer during winter.
