if in the given I solve it by
v=u+at in which v will become zero at highest point and t comes out to be:
t=u/g. from here u comes out to be 10m/s.
Now when I am having vertical velocity and and I have to calculate vertical distance i.e s=ut from here
s=10m now the answer is 5m and want to ask what I had done wrong in this... solution....?

The whole solution till finding u is correct.

The mistake is when you started finding the distance.

Use equation ;

v² = u²+2gs

  • v = 0

  • u = 10m/s

  • g = 10m/s²

0 = u² + 2gs

-u²/2g = s

-100/20 = s

s = ±5m

As distance cant be negative to answer will be

s = 5m
