The Electronegativity according to the Mullikan's scale is given by the formula

Electronegativity = (Ionisation Energy + Electron Affinity)/540

if Ionisation Energy & Electron Affinity(Electron Gain Enthalpy) are in KJ/mol

Electronegativity = (Ionisation Energy + Electron Affinity)/5.6

if Ionisation Energy & Electron Affinity(Electron Gain Enthalpy) are in Electron Volts(eV)

When we use the Ionisation Energy & Electron affinity measured in Electron Volts(eV) the Mullikan's electronegativity values are found to be 2.8 times higher than the pauling values so in order to get the mullikan's scale from the pauling's scale simply multiply the pauling scale values by 2.8 & remember that the Ionisation Energy & Electron Affinity values must be given in electron volts(eV)

Hope this helped you immensely..!

praneethks: don't call me bhaiyaa priya
sourav000: praneethks ..i cant get the ans by formula(I.e.+E.A/540)=E.N. ?
priya5647: ok
praneethks: i don't know the formula but remember the concept not formula
praneethks: sorry for irriating you priya i apologize you i am just looking for my soul mate
priya5647: okay
priya5647: I understand
praneethks: really sorry once again
priya5647: it's ok
abhiraj03: Really nice answer
