If it is asked that write the smallest 4 digit number using 4 different digits, then can we use the digits 0?

(1) 1038

(2) 1308

(3) 1083

(4) 0138. (We can see that this is not a four digit number as 0138 is just simply 138)

  Since we need a 4-digit number so it cannot start with 0. Hence we can place 0 in the second position.
