Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

if j( -8, -4) and L (1 , 2) and point P divides line segment JL into 1:2 ratio

find the cordinate p?

when a line segment divides a line it get seperated into two sections

so therefore we have to apply section formula

ie;  section formula:  m1x2 + m2x1/ m1 + m2  ,  m2y1+ m1y2 /m1 +m2

{where m1 and m2 are ratios and x1,y1 are the coordinates of J and x2, y2 are L coordinates)

=>  {1 x 1 + 2 x -8 / 1+2 ,  1 x 2 + 2 x -4 / 1 + 2} = p

{1 - 16 / 3 ,  2 - 8 / 3} = p

{-15/3 ,  -6/3} = p

==>  ( -5 , -2 ) = p

hence proved...

hope it helps!!!
