so he drinks 1/6 barrel of water in 1 day
similarly Mary drinks 1/12 of water in 1 day
let the number of days taken by both to drink be X days
so when we combine both we get
1/6+1/12=1/x
3/12=1/x
1/4=1/x
x=4
therefore both drink 1 barrel of water in 4 days
so he drinks 1/6 barrel of water in 1 day
similarly Mary drinks 1/12 of water in 1 day
