Given:

Length of square=2.0

Change in length=0.4

To find:

the fractional error

Solution:

We have,

Length(L)=2.0

Change in length(ΔL)=0.4

So, we can calculate the fractional error with the formula

ΔL/L=\frac{0.4}{2.0}

=0.2

Hence the fractional error is 0.2

Here we have to find the fractional error

The length is represented as 2.0\left \ {{+} \atop {-}} \right. 0.4

2.0 is the original length and 0.4 is the error.

The fractional error is given by error divided by the original value

Fractional error = \frac{\delta L}{L }

Putting the values in the formula

Fractional error = \frac{0.4}{2}

                          = 0.2

So, the fractional error will be 0.2
