Increase in linear momentum = p+20%p = 1.2 p
Since p= √2K.E.m
1.2p= √2nK.E.m (where n is the times K.E. increased)
Dividing both the equation we get
1.2 = √n
n = 1.44
Thus the K.E. increases 1.44 K.E
% = 1.44 K.E. - K.E ÷ K.E. ×100 = 44%
