then am/ab= an/ad [theorem 6.1]

given that LM is parallel to cd and Ln to CD

to prove= am/an = an/ad

proof: in triangle abc lm is parallel to Cb

AL/LC=am/MB (by basic proportionality theorem)-1

in triangle acd

AL/CD=AN/ND (by bpt theorem)-2

from equation 1 and 2

AM/MB=AN/ND

MB/am =ND/AN (reciprocal)

adding 1 on both the sides=mb+am/am=nd+an/an = ab/am=ad/an
