If LPG is an odourless gas, then how do we detect a gas leakage?

by listening the sound produced by gas ...as gas produces sound like whistling bcoz it moves like a spiral wave when it escapes from high pressure to low pressure.
This phenomenon is something like movement of air around globe.

Ethyl Mercaptan is added to the LPG

it has an very strong smell and hence when LPG gas gets leaked , we get the smell therefore we can understand that there is a leakage
