Answer:

Value of x is either - ⅔ or + 1

Step-by-step explanation:

In an A.P., the comman difference is always same.

→ 9x² - 1 = d

→ 4x + 21 - 3x² - 14 = d

→ - 3x² + 4x + 7 = d

Since both equations have same R.H.S.

→ - 3x² + 4x + 7 = 9x² - 1

→ 0 = 12x² - 4x - 8

On factorising,

→ 0 = 12x² - 12x + 8x - 8

→ 0 = 12x(x - 1) + 8(x - 1)

→ 0 = (12x + 8)(x - 1)

Each getting zero,

x = - ⅔ and + 1
