if m1 =8kg and m2 = 4kg ,then find the acceleration of the system when the masses are released ?( where g= 10m/s)

Cas 1 : assume m1 is on table and m2 hanging . so Driving force is m2g and driven mass is m1 + m2

acceleration for this case is  

= Driving F /MASS of system

=  4x10/( 4+8)

=10/3

= 3.33 m sec^-2

Cas 2 : assume m2 is on table and m1 hanging . so Driving force is m1g and driven mass is m1 + m2

acceleration for this case is  

= Driving F /MASS of system

=  8x10/( 4+8)

=20/3

= 6.66 m sec^-2
