If m²+n²=52, mn=24, m>n, what is m-n

Answer:

 {(m  -  n)}^{2}  =  {m}^{2}  +  {n}^{2}  - 2mn

 {(m  -  n)}^{2}  = 52 - 2 \times 24

 {(m - n)}^{2}  = 4

m - n =  \sqrt{4}

m - n =  + 2 \:  \: and \:  - 2

here m=6 and n=4

i.e m×n=6×4=24

and 6>4

 {m}^{2} +  {n}^{2} =    {6}^{2}   +  {4}^{2}  = 36 + 16 = 52

Therefore , m-n = 6-4= 2.
