Hello...

If both male and female gametes are motile then it will cause syndromic fusion or cross which results in death and syndrome.

ANSWER:

If male and female gamate were diploid, they were from mitosis.

EXPLANATION:

If male and female gametes are diploid, the number of chromosomes in each generation would form tetraploid zygote which consists of 46 pairs of chromosomes and 92 chromosomes in total.

A tetraploid zygote is not viable and this leads to miscarriage. The zygote is diploid if male and female gametes are haploid. This would generate huge number of chromosomes.
