if mass density is mass per unit volume then flux density should be flux per unit volume ,but thats not so... It is flux per area can u tell me why?

We know that density is the mass per unit volume thus the mass density also means that mass per unit volume of that body.
While flux depends on the area along which it flows its density is also about the area through which there is flux hence, the flux must and always be per unit area of the body.
