16+x+14+23+20/5=18

x=17

Given :-

Data :- 16, 14 , x , 23 , 20

Mean of above data is 18

Find:-

Value of x

Required formula :-

Mean = \frac{Sum of observations}{No.of observations}

Solution:-

Sum of observations is. 16 + 14 + 23 + 20 + x = 73 +x

No.of observations = 5

As we know formula substuite valyes

18 = \frac{73+x}{5}

18 × 5 = 73 + x

90 = 73 + x

90-73 = x

x = 17

So, Required value of x is 17
