Answer: 6

GIVEN: Median= 7 , Mean = 7.5

SOLUTION:

3median - 2mean = mode

(3 * 7) - (2 * 7.5) = mode

21 - 15 = mode

MODE = 6.

The mode of the observations = 6

Given :

The median and mean of some observations is 7 and 7.5 respectively

To find :

The mode of the observations

Concept :

The relationship connecting three measures of central tendency is given by

3 × Median = 2 × Mean + Mode

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down median and mode

Here it is given that for the given observations

Median = 7

Mean = 7.5

Step 2 of 2 :

Calculate mode of the observations

3 × Median = 2 × Mean + Mode

⇒ ( 3 × 7 ) = ( 2 × 7.5 ) + Mode

⇒ 21 = 15 + Mode

⇒ Mode = 21 - 15

⇒ Mode = 6

Hence mode of the observations = 6
