If metal oxide + water = Metal hydroxide, Then why does k + h20 = koh + h2 + heat energy
Basically my doubt is how can it produce potassium hydroxide when in the reactants side potassium is not in its oxide form?

In this reaction firstly K is converted to its metal oxide then it reacts with water again to form KOH. I think now your doubt is cleared.

Even if it is converted, Then metal oxides when react with water does not produce hydrogen gas. then how is it possible?
