Answer:

a=3 b=1

Step-by-step explanation:

mid points=(5;a)  (b;7)

    we know that mid point formula is x1+x2/2 ; y1+y2/2

     5+b/2=3       a+7/2=5

   a=3   b=1

Given :-

Let the line segment be PQ.

Where P = (5,a) and Q = (b,7)

And the midpoint (3,5) be X

Since X is the midpoint of PQ

X = [(x1 + x2)/2 , (y1 + y2)/2]

➡ (3, 5) = [(5 + b)/2 , (a + 7)/2]

Equating P with 3 and Q with 5, we get

» (5 + b)/2 = 3

➡ 5 + b = 6

➡ b = 6 - 5

➡ b = 1

» (a + 7)/2 = 5

➡ a + 7 = 10

➡ a = 10 - 7

➡ a = 3

Hence, (a, b) = (3, 1)
