Momentum =√ 2× mass× kinetic Energy

Let mass of the body is m ,

Initial momentum=p1 .

So ,Final momentum =p2=p1- (50% of p1)

=1/2 p1

If K1 and K2 are the initial and final kinetic energies respectively,

Then,

K1=p1^2/2m. and. K2=p2^2/2m.

Therefore,

K1/K2= (p2/p1)^2

K1/K2=1/4

Percentage change in kinetic energy

=(K2-K1)/K1 × 100

=-300%(- indicates decrease in kinetic energy)
