Let M= present age of mother:

x,y.z be the ages of her children

therefore, according to the question:

M=4(x+y+z)………..(1)

M+6=2[(6+x)+(6+y)+(6+z)]………(2)

solving (1) and (2), eliminating (x+y+z), we get:

M+6=2(18+(M/4))

=>M+6=36+(M/2)

=>M/2=30

=>M=60

Correct Question -

If mother's age is three times the sons age and after 4 years mothers age is two times the age of the son .

Then what is the age of mother ?

Solution -

Let the age of the son be x years .

Now , according to the question , the age of his mother is 3x years .

Now , after 4 years -

The new age of the son becomes => x + 4 years

Age of mother -

The new age of mother becomes 3x + 4 years .

Now , in the above Question , the following situation is given -

Mothers age is two times the age of the son .

So ,

3x + 4 = 2 ( x + 4 )

=> 3x + 4 = 2x + 8

=> 3x - 2x = 4

=> x = 4

=> 3x = 12 years.

Hence the present age of Mother is 12 years .... .... A
