Solution:-

Given

=> n(A) = 20

=> n(B)=30

=> n(A U B) = 40

To find

=> n(A ∩ B)

Using the identity

=> n(A U B) = n(A) + n(B) - n(A ∩ B)

Put the value

=> 40 = 20 + 30 - n(A ∩ B)

=> 40 = 50 - n(A ∩ B)

=> 40 - 50 = -n(A ∩ B)

=> -10 = - n(A ∩ B)

=> n(A ∩ B) = 10

Answer:-

n(A ∩ B) = 10
