n(A) = 20

n(B) = 40

n(AUB) = n(A) + n(B) - n(A intersection B)

If A and B are mutually disjoint sets then,

n(A intersection B) = 0

Hence,

n(AUB) = n(A) + n(B) - n(A intersection B)

n(AUB) = n(A) + n(B) - 0

= 20 + 40 = 60
