SOLUTION

TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT OPTION

If n(A) = 30 , n(B) = 45, n(AUB) = 65

i) n( A ∩ B) ii) n(A-B) iii) n(B-A)

  • 10,20,30

  • 10,15,10

  • 20,10,15

  • 10,20,35

EVALUATION

Here it is given that

n(A) = 30 , n(B) = 45, n(AUB) = 65

Now

n( A ∪ B) = n(A) + n(B) - n( A ∩ B)

⇒ 65 = 30 + 45 - n( A ∩ B)

⇒ n( A ∩ B) = 75 - 65

⇒ n( A ∩ B) = 10

i) n( A ∩ B) = 10

ii) n(A-B) = n(A) - n( A ∩ B) = 30 - 10 = 20

iii) n(B-A) = n(B) - n( A ∩ B) = 45 - 10 = 35

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the correct option is 10 , 20 , 35
