Since in the N3- ion nitrogen has completed its octet,

No. of Valence electrons

= moles of nitride ion × 8

Mole= mass/molar mass

=4.2/14 mol

= 3/10 mol

Therefore, Valence electrons

= 3/10 × 6.022 × 10^23 × 8

= 144.528 × 10^22

=1.44528 × 10^24
