Total sweets = 78

Let the number of boys = x

let the number of girls = (18 - x)

Now total sweets of boys and girls together,

or, 4x + 5 (18 - x) = 78

or, 4x + 90 - 5x = 78

or, x = 90 - 78

or, x = 12

So, number of boys = 12

Number of girls = (18 - 12) = 6

Girls = 6, Boys = 12
