let the denominator be x

numerator be x-2

when 1 is subtracted from both numerator and denominator

x-2-1/x-1

x-31x-1=1/2

cross multiply

1(x-1)=2(x-3)

x-1=2x-6

x=5

5-2/5

3/5

3/5 is the rational number
