Let the denominator of the rational number is x.

Then, according to the question, numerator = Denominator – 2

= x – 2

Now,

\frac{(x-2)-1}{x-1} =\frac{1}{2}

On cross multiplying we get,

2(x-2-1) = x -1

⇒ 2(x-3) = x-1

⇒ 2x – 6 = x- 1

⇒ x = 5

Hence, the denominator = 5

And numerator = 5-2 = 3

∴ the rational number =\frac{3}{5}

Hope it helps:)
